How
To Make Peanut Butter – Fresh And Scrumptious
If
you want to know how to make peanut butter, take a look at this simple
guide.
Making peanut butter at home is really easy and
satisfying. It's also cheap and the fresh taste is far
superior
to anything you can buy.
You will need:
- A food processor
- 300g/10½ oz/2 cups of peanuts*
- 1 tablespoon of groundnut, sunflower or any
flavourless oil
- Salt (optional)
*What
peanuts to use?
For this peanut butter recipe, I like to
use shelled unroasted
peanuts that are
still in their skins. I like to roast the peanuts myself
because
the fresh roasted flavour is so good
- but you can use skinless peanuts if you prefer and you can also use
pre-roasted peanuts. This recipe is for unroasted peanuts so if you are
using pre-roasted, just skip Step 1 and 2.
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.
- Spread
the nuts out on a oven tray and bake for about 10 minutes or until
lightly browned. If you are using pre-roasted peanuts, skip
this
step.
- Tip the roasted peanuts into a food processor
with the oil and grind to the consistency you like.
- You can also add a pinch of salt if you wish
though I don't bother.
- Store the peanut butter in an airtight
container. There's no need to refrigerate. It will
keep for about a month.
